Riga Central Library 

Cooperation agreement between Central Library of Vilnius City Municipality and Central Library in Riga (Latvia) was signed in January 2002. The contract aimed to expand the Vilnius and Riga municipal libraries’ cooperation and exchange of expertise librarianship, printed material, bibliography (bibliographical issues) and book science scientific problem-solving performance. The agreement provides the opportunity to develop joint projects, exhibitions, colloquia, conferences, seminars and other events.


Kyiv Lesya Ukrainka Public Library (Kyiv, Ukraine)

Kyiv and Vilnius combine friendly and business relations. The cooperation agreement was signed by the cities on June 21, 1991. Since then, delegations from Kyiv and Vilnius have been constantly exchanging experience in various areas of the cities’ life. Cooperation between the Central Library of Vilnius City Municipality and Kyiv Lesya Ukrainka Public Library is based on exchange of expertise librarianship. In May 2022 Central Library of Vilnius City Municipality received a large package of Ukrainian books for Ukrainian refugees.


Podgórze Cultural Center (Kraków, Poland)

The cooperation agreement between the Central Library of Vilnius City Municipality and the Podgórze Culture Center (Kraków, Poland) was signed in May 2018.

The agreement provides for the exchange of professional experience, the dissemination of mutual cultural events and educational programs. It is planned to exchange professional visits in order to share experiences, organize cultural and educational events, and carry out youth and senior exchange programs between Krakow and Vilnius.


Library of Krakow (Kraków, Poland)

The December 2 A cooperation agreement between the Krakow Library and the Central Library of Vilnius City Municipality was signed in December 2019. The purpose of the agreement is to expand the professional cooperation of both countries in the library sector and to organize cultural, scientific, musical and literary programs and exhibitions in order to spread knowledge about Polish and Lithuanian culture more widely, as well as Cultural life, traditions and history of Krakow and Vilnius.

The second cooperation agreement between the Krakow Library and the Central Library of Vilnius City Municipality was signed on September 25, 2022. The purpose of the agreement is deepening cooperation between libraries.

Dozens of books by Polish authors got into the hands of Vilnius Central Library of Vilnius City Municipality library director. Among them: Tokarczuk, Pilch, Twardoch, Szczerek, Rak and Myśliwski. This is a confirmation of our cooperation, which has been going on since 2017.
