Mission and vision
THE MISSION OF VILNIUS CITY MUNICIPALITY CENTRAL LIBRARY
1. Provide informational, cultural and recreational services for the residents of Vilnius, taking the informational, social and cultural needs of all the community members into consideration
2. Participate in the development of information society
3. Accumulate, manage, store and provide books, periodical literature, video and audio material as well as electronic documents for the residents of Vilnius, based on informational, cultural and social development of the municipality
Every member of society is provided with equal access to library services, regardless of age, race, gender, nationality, social status as well as political or religious beliefs.
THE VISION OF VILNIUS CITY MUNICIPALITY CENTRAL LIBRARY
The municipal public libraries seek to establish themselves as institutions for the fulfillment of informational, cultural and social needs of society, enabling each community member to:
1. Gain and develop informational, social and cultural competence
2. Exercise democratic rights
3. Participate in the development of information society in a creative manner
OPERATIONAL OBJECTIVES OF VILNIUS CITY MUNICIPALITY CENTRAL LIBRARY
1. Provide the residents of Vilnius with information and guarantee its access to every segment of the population
2. Organize a wide range of meaningful leisure events as well as extracurricular activities for children and promote creative initiative
3. Improve management, administration and infrastructure of the organization and manage change in the library network in an effective manner
4. Encourage and foster professionalism as well as motivation of the library employees
